Cute huh? Not always! Sometimes he can be a pain. He wakes up same time every morning to go outside. He gives me that look same time every evening when it’s time to eat. He is very predictable. He loves his routine. As we know, the most important things to him are eating, sleeping and restroom time. Rarely does he change that routine.
We can learn from this. Why can’t we dumb down our routine and stick to it. Work outs, schedule at work, time with family, what we eat and what we drink. I wonder how beneficial it would be to stay in the same predictable routine? You know like that saying: “Pick up a new habit and stick with it 30 days”. Hmm food for thought.

No this is not me. If I took a poll of equestrians who would rather not have breasts at all, I bet the number would be pretty high. Those of us with the kind of breasts that bounce to our chin during the sitting trot totally will understand this post. It’s all about finding that right bra. On a whim, I stopped in a Soma store a couple of weeks ago. I did not even try it on. Told the counter girl that I ride horses and need something that will keep my shoulders back and my ladies confined. She said, lets at least measure you huh? Ugh, fine, okay!!
Walked out with a new bra. Haven’t rode in it yet, so no testimonials yet. Subject came up at this weekend’s show and was also told about the above brand made by Enell. So if this Soma doesn’t do the trick, I’m down for what looks like a pretty military style, zip those puppies right up. Actually, looks like buckles right up. Kind of wish there was a zipper. After all, there was made mention of the riders who’s clips came apart and the puppies were free throughout her test. Oh my goodness, I would die. Literally!! Concussion!!
Sweaty day at the barn. I am on what seems like a forever plateau right now. I’m not rattled, I haven’t been able to wear these particular riding pants for over a year so I know the inches are really coming off. They say, muscle weighs more than fat. Also heard that was a big myth. So, what am I going to do about this seemingly endless plateau? Work the plan!!! No resting on my laurels on the weekends. Take my work out medicine.
I have to tell you that today’s ride was better. Tally has been abruptly stopping on me. Trainer said I’m probably pinching with my knees (bad riding bear back habit) Well here is another tip. Fitness mentor read somewhere for me that leg extensions are NOT one of the exercises for a knee pincher like me . I can still do inners and outers, but I really need to concentrate even more on the core. I hope that was proved today and I’m on the right path. Would love someone else’s validation.
This day was cross country schooling. For cross country schooling you are required to wear a protective vest. This particular vest was borrowed and I let the strings all the way out. I don’t really think you can call it a vest actually. It fit me more like a Brar. Such a lovely pic with my belly hanging out of the bottom. Our equestrian world is such a loving tight nit community, however, not one person laughed. Instead, I was told how lovely my posture was and how good of a seat I had on Tally.
I, however, decided from this point on that 2019 was going to be my year. I have been listening to Dr. Phil’s “Phil in the blanks” podcast and he really hit the nail on the head. I will do my best to quote what I heard and how it struck me. He said that if you are not completely satisfied with the way you feel then you need to put yourself on project status. Project status is you are selling your home and the garage needs to be painted for a showing on Saturday. That is project status, your new priority. There are 4 ways of being put on project status:
You have been court ordered to do something. You changing will not last because you have been forced to.
Your family wants you to change so you try to please them.
You know in your mind that changing is really what you need to do for better health or for extending your life. Still not feeling it.
When you are mentally ready. This is when real change will happen. You are looking yourself in the mirror and say I will not take this any more!! Not another minute, not another hour, not another day!!
